Daily Sun source said that “the late Mrs. Ugwu was coming back from where she went to see some family friends when the gunmen numbering about three, who had been trailing her,
double-crossed her at the junction. Thinking that the hoodlums were trapped by the potholes at the junction, the deceased slowed down, sounded her horn and flashed her head for them to shift a little out of the road.

“By that time, the deceased was already shouting at them for blocking her way. One of the gunmen disembarked from their bike, came to her side and pointed the gun at her. At that time, one of her husband’s relations who was with her in the car ran out and made straight to their house, which is about 100 metres away,…

Nigerians! i just love these people. A gay rights activist, Bisi Alimi, caused a stir on Wednesday as he mocked Nigeria on the Facebook.

Alimi, the first Nigerian to declare publicly his support for same sex union, noted that the country “will go down soon unless it stopped praying to God and started acting”.

He wrote from the United Kingdom where he is on a self-imposed exile.

Soon after his comment, which many considered unpatriotic, was published, hundreds of Nigerians responded on Facebook, blogs, Twitter and Instagram.

Responding from Abuja, one Chinelo Peters described the words used by Alimi as derogatory and unpatriotic.

He urged him to channel his energy into a positive cause that could impact on the country instead of complaining from the UK.

Peters said on Facebook, “You are a Nigerian but in an asylum in the UK. Why do you refer to Nigeria as ‘that country?’ If you do not like something and you are passionate about doing it differently, you need to champion the change you desire…

Wahala dey!!! Shell set To Sack 6500 People

Royal Dutch Shell (RDSa.L) says it will axe 6,500 jobs this year and step up spending cuts, to deal with an extended period of lower oil prices.
Besides, the company announced on Thursday in London the sale of a 33 per cent stake in the Showa Shell refinery in Japan to Idemitsu, for about $1.4 billion.

The Anglo-Dutch company also said it was planning more asset disposals, bringing total asset sales between 2014 and 2018 to $50 billion.
“We have to be resilient in a world where oil prices remain low for some time, whilst keeping an eye on recovery,’’ Chief Executive Officer Ben van Beurden said.
Shell said it anticipated 6,500 staff and direct contractor reductions in 2015 from a total of nearly 100,000 employees.
Lower oil prices have contributed to a 37 per cent drop in the oil and gas group’s second-quarter profits.
And the group said it would reduce 2015 capital investment for the second time this year to $30 billion by 20 per cent from a year ago.
Big oil companies have cut 2015 spendin…

FG Set To Probe Jonathan Over Missing 4 Trillon Naira

How did the 28 federal ministries, their departments and agencies under the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan incur a whopping N4 trillion contractual debt? Who issued the jobs and did they pass through due process and if so, did the contractors complete the assigned jobs?
These and more are the duties which a special task force to be raised by the Federal Government is to undertake before the debt could be classified as Federal Government liability and settled by the new administration.

The N4 trillion debt, which is nearly the country’s budget for one year, was handed over by the previous government to the present administration as part of the hand-over note given to the Transition Committee raised by President Muhammadu Buhari.
But after looking at the debt profile and not being able to establish its authenticity, the Transition Committee headed by Alhaji Ahmed Joda, has made a strong recommendation to President Buhari to raise a ministerial task force to probe how the hug…

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB has back-off on its new policy adopted on July 14 to redistribute candidates to universities.
JAMB’s Public Relation Officer, Mr. Benjamin Fabian who disclosed this to Vanguard Tuesday in a telephone conversations said: ”Candidates should go and write the post-UTME in their institutions of first choices.”

He, however noted that after the post-UTME in their universities of first choice, if necessary, JAMB is still going to redistribute them.
He said: “When they write the post-UTME  in the schools of their first choices, they may wish to consider the other places we have taken them to for admissions.
”The reason is that if they don’t get admission in their first choices institution, they will get in the second.”
He explained that JAMB’s effort in redistributing candidates was only geared towards helping candidates of over-subscribed institutions gain admission to other federal or state universities rather than wasting their scores.

1. GARRI- This is undoubtedly the number one fast food in Unilag (or

better still in Nigeria as a whole). Garri (for those that don’t know

its cassava flakes) is usually mixed with ordinary water or cold

water and taken like corn flakes. For those in the middle class,

they buy sugar and cold water but those in the upper class can go

as far as buying groundnut, milk and even Milo. Some Unilag

girls/boys that like forming say Garri is for the poor, some say

when they take it they have eye problem, some even say they

have never tasted Garri before, all I have to say is that; Garri

(garriumsulphate) have been saving Unilag students(and

Nigerians) since 1828 BC.

2. BREAD and anything- This is very common amongst both boys and

girls of new hall (that’s why the Unilag bakery is situated…

SERAP Sues UNILAG and JAMB Over Cut Off Marks

Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project(SERAP) has dragged the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board and theUniversity of Lagos to court over “outrageous cut-off marks decisions”.
The organization is seeking an order stopping JAMB, UNILAG and othersfrom implementing the decision.

The suit number FHC/L/CS/1139/2015 filed today at the Federal High Courtby Adetokunbo Mumuni on behalf of SERAP and three applicants affected by thecut-off marks decision, the Applicants contend that “the provisions of Section5(1)(c)(iii) of the JAMB Act are very clear and unambiguous.
The letter and spirit of the provisions is to ensure that the preferences of candidates in terms of the university they choose to attend are sacrosanct. Even a contraryor adverse decision by individual university cannot override decision madepursuant to the provisions of Section (5)1)(c)(iii).”
The three other applicants are: Adeola Hammed Ayobami; Abass Ololade; andAbass Ajibola. The Respondents in the suit apart from …

Hehehe!!! Nigerians Arrested In Spain For Using Juju To Force Women Into Prostitution

A man and a woman of Nigerian origin have been arrested over claims that they forced Nigerian women into prostitution and deployed voodoo to keep their victims under their control, Spanish police said Sunday.

The two suspects were arrested on a warrant issued by Norway after a Nigerian woman lodged a complaint against them in Oslo.
Spanish police said the pair promised their victims, who were living in extreme poverty, a job and that they would cover their travel expenses. They would then force them to become prostitutes.
The young Nigerian woman who filed the complaint had herself been lured in 2011 to Spain by a woman who promised her work.
When she arrived in Spain, however, she was kidnapped and held in an apartment on the southern edge of Madrid.
Her abductor then forced her to work as a prostitute in several Spanish cities, as well as Bordeaux in France and finally Oslo, claiming she was owed a 60,000-euro ($66,000) debt).
“The ‘madam’ and her accomplices had control over her, using a…

WAEC Threatens To Withhold 2015/2016 Results

Hundreds of candidates who sat for the May/June West African Senior School Certificate Examination may not have their results released in the next two weeks, the West African Examinations Council has announced.

No fewer than 19 states of the federation owe the council about N4bn examination registration fees.
The WAEC Head of National Office, Lagos, Mr. Charles Eguridu, announced this on Monday at a briefing in Lagos.
He, however, failed to make public the affected states.
Eguridu said, “A total number of 19 states in the country owe the Council in respect of entry fees for state government sponsored candidates for the May/June 2015 WASSCE. Some states also still owe the Council registration fees for the May/June 2014 WASSCE.
“We have written to the affected state governments without any response. The poor response of the debtor states is threatening the smooth operations of the Council.

Whitney Housten's Daughter Dead After Months In Coma

On Sunday, July 26, Bobbi Kristina Brown, the daughter of Bobby Brown and the late Whitney Houston, tragically passed away at the age of 22. Her death came almost six months after she was found — in circumstances eerily similar to her mother’s death — unconscious in her bathtub on Saturday, Jan. 31, by her longtime partner Nick Gordon.

Bobbi Kristina was placed in hospice care on Wednesday, June 24, after months of treatment in a medically induced coma. She was surrounded by family and friends at the time of her death.
Bobbi Kristina’s family has remained by her side throughout the ordeal. After spending over two weeks in a coma, doctors performed a tracheotomy in February, to help stave off infection from her breathing tube while she continued to fight for her life.
“Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away July, 26 2015, surrounded by her family,” the Houston family tells Us Weekly in a statement. “She is finally at peace in the arms of God. We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous…
